The MMA World's Unresolved Feud: Garry vs. Edwards
In the world of mixed martial arts, a long-standing rivalry has captured the attention of fans and fighters alike. Leon Edwards, the former champion, and Ian Garry, the rising contender, have a history that dates back to 2023, and their bad blood shows no signs of cooling down.
It all began when Garry, in his quest for the best training partners, joined Edwards' Team Renegade in Birmingham. However, this arrangement was short-lived, as Garry was asked to leave due to concerns about his impact on the team's culture. Edwards later claimed that he gave Garry a taste of his skills during sparring sessions, adding fuel to the fire.
"And this is where it gets controversial..."
Fast forward to 2025, and Garry has been consistently taking shots at Edwards. He has labeled Edwards as weak, predicted his retirement, and even accused him of lying about their time together at Renegade. Garry's words carry a certain weight, as he believes he knows Edwards' true colors.
In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Garry shared his strong opinions: "They lied, and I don't tolerate liars. When people make up things that aren't true, it reveals their true nature. I've been saying for a while that Edwards should retire, and I think we might see that happen."
Garry goes on to state that he has no interest in ever fighting Edwards, emphasizing that he doesn't want Edwards to make any money off him. He even suggests that if Edwards were willing to fight him for all or nothing, he'd take the challenge, but only to ensure Edwards' defeat.
"But here's the intriguing part..."
Despite Garry's confidence, it's worth noting that he has yet to knock anyone unconscious inside the Octagon. Nevertheless, Garry will be supporting his former opponent, Carlos Prates, when Prates faces Edwards at UFC 322 on November 15, 2025, in New York City's Madison Square Garden.
Garry concludes, "I'll be cheering for Prates, and I fully expect to see Edwards spark out. I'm surprised Edwards even accepted the fight. It's gonna be a one-sided affair."
A week after UFC 322, Garry will step into the Octagon himself, facing Belal Muhammad at UFC Qatar. This upcoming fight will be a test of Garry's own momentum and a chance for him to prove his skills.
So, who do you think will come out on top in this ongoing feud? Will Garry's predictions come true, or will Edwards silence his critics? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
